I'm a Leader: I'm a Coach Training Program

Target Audience:
Managers and supervisors responsible for leading teams.
All employees involved in developing staff in their organisation.
Key Objective:
This program emphasises the important role modern workplace leaders have as a coach. Modern leaders must accept the key role they have to play in building the performance of teams and individuals, as well as retaining high calibre employees. 'I'm a Leader, I'm a Coach' will ensure participants understand the leadership style of coaching as well as providing them with some key skills to be active coaches in their own workplaces.
Learning Outcomes:

At the conclusion of the program participants will be able to:

  • Explain why coaching is an important component of the modern workplace leaders role and the range of uses for coaching
  • Analyse their preferred coaching style and current coaching skills
  • Describe two styles of coaching (directive and partnering) and relate these to a leadership model
  • Identify opportunities to apply the different coaching styles with their coachees
  • Conduct a coaching needs analysis with their coachee and develop a coaching plan
  • Apply the skills and behaviours relevant to the different styles of coaching, including active listening, questioning, empathy and feedback
  • Conduct a non-directive (partnering) coaching session that will enable better problem solving, build commitment and motivate staff to greater independence and accountability.
