Leadership Program Leading for Success - A practical Leadership for Leaders
Target Audience:
Any person who needs to develop a greater understanding of what it means to be a leader, not just a manager. The course will be of particular value to emerging leaders, new managers and managers who wish to improve and develop their leadership skills.
Key Objective:

The program demonstrates how success can be achieved by turning a management focus into a leadership focus. Furthermore, to emphasise how a leader transposes a focus of today into a clearly articulated journey to the future, both at the team and individual level. Ultimately success in leadership is having the capability to bring people along for the ride. The object of the program is to ensure participants:

  • Understand the difference between the disciplines of management & leadership.
  • Understand the connections between effective leadership and attraction and retention of good people.
  • Gain the skills and knowledge required to deal with the transition from 'peer to peer' relationships, to 'leader to team member' relationships. They will also focus on behaviours that minimise exclusivity and disharmony between leader and employees.
  • Identify areas of personal improvement and implement appropriate strategies to resolve issues.
Learning Outcomes:

At the conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Define the key attributes of an effective leader in an organisation.
  • Demonstrate key leadership behaviours such as taking accountability, committing to the organisational direction and goals, having flexibility in a changing environment, considering teamwork above individual gain.
  • Appreciate leadership style versus personal style and their own potential strengths and weaknesses.
  • Understand the importance of leading by example and role modelling, and adapting their leadership style to meet the different needs of individuals/teams.
  • Understand the role of effective two-way communication in the leadership paradigm.
  • Manage changing employment circumstances.
  • Set goals for individuals and teams.
  • Understand how history impacts on our capacity to lead in different situations.
  • Understand the difference between leading for oneself and leading for the organisation.
